- Optional housing is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis for workers who are relocating to begin employment. Cost of housing, if accepted, is $300.00 per bi-weekly pay period. If used, total cost of housing will be deducted from paycheck. The first two weeks’ rent plus a $300.00 refundable security deposit is required, to be paid directly to employer upon acceptance of housing. While not preferred, employee can set up a payment plan if they are unable to pay the $300.00 deposit up front. Housing deposit will be refunded at employer’s sole discretion based upon the condition of the unit at move-out. All deductions from paycheck required by law will be made.

Please note: Due to its unique location, the Petitioner will have two separate periods of need for temporary workers totaling (8) months: (1) for the warm-weather season from July to mid-October; and (2) for the snow sports season mid-December to mid-April. Onion Soup Corporation d/b/a Charitys 1887 Saloon (the Petitioner) has a peakload need for workers in this temporary position. The Petitioner is a restaurant in Killington, Vermont. The Killington area is a well-known seasonal tourism destination because of the local recreational activities such as skiing in the winter and hiking the Long Trail and Appalachian trails in the summer. Due to its status as a ski vacation destination, businesses in this area, including the Petitioner, tend to experience a significant spike in demand correlated to the colder weather in the winter and early spring months. During the late spring, from mid-April through June (the spring offseason), ski season is over; however, the weather remains too cold for most tourists to visit warm-weather summer recreation. And again, from mid-October through mid-December (the fall offseason), the weather becomes too cold for warm-weather recreation but there is not yet enough snow for snow sports-related tourism. During these offseason periods, permanent workers in this position are able to fully cover the duties of this position and temporary workers are not needed. Therefore, the services offered by the Petitioner are peakload in nature. Please see the enclosed letter entitled "Statement of Temporary Need" and enclosed supporting documents for further detail. Located in the rural mountain town of Killington, Vermont, the hiring potential of the Petitioner is very limited. The bulk of the areas residents tend to be seasonal tourists, and there are very few permanent occupants who have inclinations of entering the local workforce. Additionally, the Petitioner is in constant competition with every other local business for the same, limited U.S. workforce. Finally, the elite nature of the Petitioner means that it must require related experience for the Line Cook position, and very few local workers (if any) meet the necessary qualifications. Due to these factors, the Petitioner consistently struggles to find local workers who are willing and able to fill this temporary position.
