Work description
All work must be performed during winter months where crop acres are dormant due to cold weather and short daylight hours. Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties found in SOC Code 53-7064 Packers and Packagers for managing marketing of grain from on farm piles and bags such as: Examine and inspect crops to ensure that quality and specifications are met; Sort according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel, smell, and quality; Function and monitor grain conditioning tools to ensure efficient and safe conditioning of grain to meet quality standards; Load out crops using augurs, suction gates, shovels, brooms; Weigh crop-filled containers, and record weights and other identifying information; Discard inferior, diseased, rotten, or defective crops or foreign matter, and place acceptable products for processing; Monitor and report grain grades; Deliver grain to market facilities as ports allow; Must be able to speak and understand English.
