- The following deductions that are mandatory will be made from each paycheck: All applicable Federal and State taxes that are required to be deducted from U.S. workers and/or foreign workers. Federal Income Tax Withholding will only be deducted from H-2A employee's paycheck with the consent of both the employee and the employer. In the case that an H-2A employee does not provide a Social Security Number or an IRS issued Individual Taxpayer Identification Number AND the total annual wages for the employee are over $600, the employer must deduct backup withholding of 24% from each paycheck. Work description
Duties may include: Assist with daily swine production functions including but not limited to the following: conduct daily walkthroughs of all pens; inspect feed and water systems and monitor pig health; identify sick pigs and administer routine treatments under established herd health protocols or move pigs to designated sick pens. Remove and properly dispose of mortalities; maintain mortality and treatment records. Provide intensive care for newly weaned pigs during the fattening season. Stimulate feed intake by sprinkling feed on mats; prepare wet feed (gruel) for newly placed wean pigs. Identify and pull pigs that are off feed; monitor newly placed pigs to ensure proper acclimation and respond to health or environmental concerns; perform general barn cleaning, maintenance, and repairs; maintain livestock facilities and equipment & other related Farmworker, Livestock activities as per SOC/OES 43-2093 (onetonline.org). Possible weekend/holiday work. The employer may choose to pay experienced workers, regardless of origin, more than the published minimum wage rate.
