Work description

We have cattle that will need to be cared for from December to the end of March. Cattle will be confined for winter calving. Employees will need to care for cattle during the confinement period. Employees will need to check the water tanks, and using a pickup truck for hauling water, to make sure there is water always available, check to be sure there are no sick cows, and doctoring when needed. In December, the cows will need to be moved to a dry lot where they will need to be fed daily. Employee duties will include assisting with pulling a calf, trailering them to the veterinarian if needed, and doctoring calves. In January/February cows will be put into their calving pastures to calve. In March, they will be branded and vaccinated before released to summer pasture. Employees will complete all cattle care as assigned, and some general farm duties. In late March, cows/calves will be moved to grass pasture where they will be grazing until the confinement period in December. No care, feeding or water will be needed while in pastures. We only need seasonal assistance during the very labor-intensive calving season.
