Work description
Worker will be performing job duties associated with SOC Code 45-2093 Farmworkers, Farm, Ranch and Livestock. Job duties will include: Removing Snow and Ice from worksite, buildings, and other structures. Maintaining ground and landscaping. Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures. Perform minor plumbing as needed to faucets and pipes, and water systems. Maintain heat in buildings to prevent water lines and utilities from freezing. Herd livestock to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. Loading and unloading livestock on a regular basis, Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the animals. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition. Maintain growth, feeding, production records. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions. Workers will be expected to maintain and assist with livestock feeding systems, ensuring livestock are fed and watered according to respective protocols. Workers will frequently monitor equipment to make sure feed and water dispensers are not plugged, empty, frozen or dirty. Clean-up site. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Washing and disinfecting at the facilities where manure is removed may also be completed. The job requires working around livestock and the strong smell of manure. Must speak and understand English.
