Work description
The seasonal agricultural worker will perform duties related to crop and livestock production. Duties will include preparing fields for planting; attaching and operating tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, combines, irrigation equipment, and other agricultural machinery; planting, cultivating, fertilizing, spraying, irrigating, and harvesting crops; maintaining irrigation ditches, pipes, pumps, and pivot irrigation systems; loading and unloading crops, feed, supplies, and materials using conveyors, forklifts, augers, hand trucks, and other equipment; monitoring and adjusting machinery and removing damaged or unsuitable agricultural products; driving farm trucks and semi-trucks to transport crops, livestock, feed, supplies, and equipment; performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on agricultural equipment, irrigation systems, livestock facilities, fences, and buildings; maintaining agricultural and production records; feeding and watering livestock and monitoring feed and water supplies; mixing and distributing feed and medications as directed; examining livestock for signs of illness or injury and administering medications or vaccinations as directed; assisting with routine livestock breeding and births; providing routine animal care, including grooming and other husbandry activities; herding, sorting, identifying, and moving livestock between pastures, pens, scales, trucks, and other enclosures; protecting livestock from predators; cleaning and maintaining livestock pens, facilities, and equipment; and maintaining livestock, production, inventory, and operational records. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion, Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
