Work description

The seasonal agricultural worker will prepare fields for planting; attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, and harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools; operate tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, combines, irrigation equipment, and other farm machinery; perform planting, weeding, spraying, cultivating, and harvesting activities; irrigate soil using portable pipes or ditch systems and maintain irrigation ditches, pipes, and pumps; load and unload crops and other agricultural materials manually or using conveyors, forklifts, transfer augers, and hand trucks; load hoppers, containers, and conveyors to feed machines using forklifts, augers, suction gates, shovels, and pitchforks; guide products on conveyors to regulate flow through machines and remove diseased or rotten products; manipulate equipment controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms; observe and listen to machinery during operation to detect malfunctions; perform routine repairs and maintenance on agricultural equipment; feed and water livestock, monitor food and water supplies, mix feed, additives, and medications in prescribed portions, and order and distribute feed using trucks, tractors, and other equipment; examine livestock to detect illness, injury, disease, or abnormal weight gain; move livestock, agricultural equipment, and other farm materials between locations manually or using vehicles; and inspect, maintain, and perform routine repairs on agricultural equipment, machinery, livestock pens, yards, fences, and farm buildings.
