Work description
Workers will perform seasonal agricultural duties associated with beef cattle care on a cattle ranch and grain farm during the winter cattle care and calving season. From late spring through fall the cattle graze on pasture; before winter weather sets in, the cattle are brought home from pasture and must be fed, bedded, and tended to daily. The majority of the workers' time will be spent on daily livestock chores, including feeding and bedding cattle, moving and handling cattle, assisting with calving, and assisting with the care and wellbeing of the cattle herd. Workers will drive a tractor and operate a bale processor and feed mixer used during ranching operations, and will move and stack hay bales. Additional seasonal duties include hauling grain produced on the farm from storage to the elevator and cleaning out bins of stored grain. Workers will perform routine maintenance of farm and ranch equipment and general farm and ranch labor and upkeep directly related to the livestock and grain operation. Duties are seasonal in nature and directly support the employer's winter cattle care, calving, feeding, and stored grain handling activities on the farm and ranch. Work hours are dependent on weather, crop conditions, and operational demands and may fluctuate during the season. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday
