Work description
We have a stable of brood mares and stud stallions we need assistance during a short period of the year to collect semen and embyros to utilized artificial insemination techniques to breed the brood mares so that they all foal in a close time to each other. Job duties will include but not be limited to: Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Perform duties related to equine reproduction, such as breeding horses within appropriate timeframes, performing artificial inseminations, and helping with animal births. Assist with collection of semen from stallions, this includes leading the stallion to dummy mares in order to collect semen. Assist with flushing mares to collect embryos to be fertilized and transplanted into recipient mares. Document and label samples, segregate samples based on stud and dam. Sterilize all equipment, tools, and areas used in breeding operations and prepare collection areas.
