Work description
The employer is seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to assist with the harvest season (including pre and post-harvest). Duties include laying plastic, planting, staking, tying, pruning, harvesting, packing, clean-up of crops, general clean-up, field walking, and operating farm equipment. Other job duties include shovel work, replanting, weeding, irrigation installation and removal, freeze protection of crops, dumping crop into containers, post-harvest clean-up, pulling plastic and stakes, and other general farm labor. Crops include peppers, cabbage, squash, watermelon, sweet corn, broccoli,eggplant, cucumber, pickles, green beans, okra, plants and flowers. Nursery duties include potting, planting, transplanting, line work, indoor and outdoor field work, lifting, loading, unloading, and operating farm equipment. Workers may occasionally assist with non-commercial meal preparation, cleaning, and maintenance activities for employer-provided worker housing facilities. Workers should follow safety and farm instructions. This job will be done under varying outdoor extreme weather conditions such as heat, direct sunlight, humidity, cold weather, possible rain, wind, and exposure to pollen, soil, mud, dust and other natural elements. Repetitive physical conditions such as prolonged walking, standing, heavy bending, stooping, reaching and lifting will be involved on a regular basis.
